GTA 6's Xbox listing has no file size, and no separate Online download
We read Microsoft's catalogue for all seven GTA VI products. The only download size in it is a 344 MB placeholder, and the Story and Extra entries have no package at all.
Microsoft's public product catalogue lists seven Grand Theft Auto VI products from Rockstar Games. We read all seven this morning. Between them they contain exactly one downloadable package, and it is 344,731,648 bytes — about 344 MB. That is the entire install footprint the Xbox store currently knows about for a game shipping on 19 November, and it is obviously a placeholder.
This matters because two different stories are being told about this listing right now, and the catalogue supports neither. One is that Xbox has "confirmed" GTA 6 at 676.7 GB, which Insider Gaming traced to a doctored screenshot months ago and which is still circulating. The other is newer: that hidden store entries reveal a separate GTA 6 Online download. There is no file size in the catalogue, and there is no second download in it either.
What the seven entries actually are
Three are games. The Standard edition (9P3H4968GRSM) at $79.99 and the Ultimate edition (9NNZSNHLR63L) at $99.99 both carry a release date of 19 November 2026 at 05:00 UTC — midnight Eastern, which lines up with the launch-day timing pattern Rockstar has used before. The third (9NL3WWNZLZZN) is the pre-order listing, whose description is the bonus text: buy before 19 November 23:59:59 and you get the Vintage Vice City Pack and one month of GTA+.
Four are durables — the catalogue's word for an entitlement, a row that records something your account owns. Two of them are announced and fully built out: the Ultimate Edition Upgrade (9PN4LLBR8RCH) at exactly $20.00, which is the difference between the two editions to the cent, and the Vintage Vice City Pack (9PLVSSH8849X), with a seven-image gallery and a full description of the '55 Vapid Stanier, the Shore Court Garage and the outfits. Two are not: 9P5FT3MT0M01, titled Story, and 9NLKHF63GL52, titled Extra. No description, one image each, no price.
The single package — the 344 MB one — hangs off the pre-order listing, shared by all three of its SKUs including a trial SKU, all pointing at the same package ID. Every other product in the set, including both full editions, reports zero packages.
Why Story and Extra are not downloads
The giveaway is a field called PackageFamilyName, which is what ties a store entry to actual content on a console. All three of Rockstar's names in it are readable: the Vintage Vice City Pack points at DayOneContent, the Ultimate Edition Upgrade at SpecialEditionContent, and the game itself at 28872443D20A7.
Story and Extra have none. The field is null on both, and both report zero packages. They are wired to nothing. That is the difference between an announced add-on and a bookkeeping row, and it is visible in the same response that produced the headlines.
They are also not new. Their release date field reads 24 June 2026 at 11:00 UTC — the day before pre-orders opened, the moment the rest of this storefront was built. Something is being tracked under those names, and the obvious guess is the split between the campaign and whatever Rockstar eventually sells on top of it. But the catalogue says only that the rows exist, and guessing is where this should stop. It is worth noting that every capability attribute on all three game listings reads SinglePlayer, with no multiplayer attribute anywhere — consistent with Rockstar saying nothing about a new GTA Online, though a store attribute is a tag, not a promise.
The real number has a date
Pre-loading starts at local midnight on 12 November for digital pre-orders, which is also when the physical boxes that ship a code instead of a disc become usable. A console cannot pre-load a game without knowing how big it is, so that 344 MB placeholder has to be replaced with the true figure on or before that date — and it will appear in this catalogue, silently, before anybody announces it.
Until then the honest answer to "how big is GTA 6" is that nobody outside Rockstar knows. Clearing 200 GB is sensible planning, not reporting. We check these seven entries every fifteen minutes, and the day the number turns real we will say so.
