Primary confirmation: Rockstar's official GTA VI page, Rockstar's date announcement and Take-Two's FY2026 results.

Current launch status

  • Release: November 19, 2026.
  • Launch platforms: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
  • Pre-orders: open since June 25, 2026.
  • Preload: November 12 at local midnight for digital versions.
  • Early access: not included in either announced edition.
  • PC: not announced.

Correct delay history

  1. December 2023: Trailer 1 gives a broad 2025 window.
  2. May 2, 2025: Rockstar moves release to May 26, 2026.
  3. November 6, 2025: Rockstar moves release again to November 19, 2026.
  4. June 25, 2026: pre-orders open for the November date.

The current date is official. Calling it “guaranteed” or “locked” would still be inaccurate: software schedules can change, and Rockstar has not issued any promise that another delay is impossible.

What happens on November 12?

Preload begins, but the game does not unlock. Rockstar also says the physical box contains a download code rather than a disc and is expected to become available from November 12 so buyers can preload. See the editions guide for the exact purchase differences.

What about PC?

The official GTA VI page lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. Rockstar has announced no PC date, PC preorder or PC specification. Historical port timing can suggest a later release, but it cannot produce a reliable date; the PC tracker keeps that distinction explicit.

Next dates that change the player experience

  • August 27, 2026: Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look — Netflix at 3 p.m. ET, free on Rockstar's YouTube at 9 p.m. ET.
  • November 12, 2026: preload starts.
  • November 19, 2026: scheduled launch.
  • November 20, 2026: current preorder-bonus purchase window ends.
